Privacy policy
This explains what personal information Drikus Klopper Physiotherapy collects, why, how long it is kept and what you can ask us to do with it. It is written to meet the notification duty in section 18 of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

01Who we are
Drikus Klopper Physiotherapy is a physiotherapy practice operating from Planet Fitness Centurion Gate, Cnr of John Vorster & Akkerboom St, Zwartkop, Centurion, 0157. We are the responsible party for the personal information described here.
Our Information Officer is Drikus Klopper. You can reach us on 072 871 6977 or at dklopperphysio@gmail.com.
02What we collect
Through this website we collect only what a booking needs:
- Your name and surname.
- Your email address.
- A short description of what you would like treated.
- Your phone number, if you call or message us.
The description of what you would like treated is health information, which POPIA treats as special personal information. We ask for it only so that the first appointment can be planned properly, we keep it brief, and section 32 of POPIA permits a health practitioner to process it for your care. Please do not send us detailed medical history through the website — bring it to your appointment instead.
Your full clinical record is created and kept during treatment, not through this website.
03Why we collect it
To contact you about an appointment, to prepare for and provide physiotherapy treatment, to keep the clinical records the Health Professions Council of South Africa requires us to keep, and to handle accounts and medical aid claims where applicable.
We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing unless you ask us to.
04Providing it is voluntary
You are not obliged to give us any of this. But without a name and a way to reach you we cannot confirm an appointment, and without knowing broadly what is wrong we cannot allocate the right amount of time to it.
05Who else sees it
- Jotform — our booking form runs on Jotform, which stores submissions on servers outside South Africa. POPIA section 72 permits this where the recipient is bound by comparable protections; Jotform offers a data processing agreement for that purpose. This is why the form asks for as little as it does.
- Google Maps — the map on our contact section is embedded from Google, which receives your IP address in order to serve it. Nothing you type on our site is sent to Google.
- Your medical aid — only where you ask us to claim on your behalf, and only what the claim requires.
Otherwise your information stays with the practice. We will not share clinical information with anyone — including family members or an employer — without your consent, unless the law compels us to.
06Cookies and tracking
This website sets no cookies and runs no advertising or analytics trackers. Fonts and images are served from our own domain rather than from third parties. The only item stored in your browser is a single flag that stops the intro animation replaying on every visit; it contains nothing about you and is cleared when you close the tab.
The embedded Google Map may set its own cookies when it loads. If you would rather it did not, use the “Open in Google Maps” link instead.
07How long we keep it
Enquiries that do not become appointments are deleted once they are clearly no longer relevant. Clinical records are kept at least 6 years from your last consultation, in line with HPCSA requirements, and longer where the patient was a minor at the time of treatment.
08Keeping it safe
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect your information against loss, unauthorised access and misuse. This site is served over an encrypted connection. If a breach ever affects your information, POPIA requires us to notify you and the Information Regulator, and we will.
09Your rights
You may ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, object to how we are using it, and withdraw any consent you have given. Contact the Information Officer above and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.
Some information we are legally required to retain even if you ask us to delete it — clinical records are the usual example. We will tell you if that applies.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa at inforegulator.org.za.
10Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and the date at the top of it.
11A note on the rest of this site
The conditions and treatments described elsewhere on this site are general information. They are not a diagnosis, not individual clinical advice, and reading them does not create a practitioner–patient relationship. If something is wrong, book an assessment — and if it is urgent, contact your doctor or emergency services rather than a website.
